Best 1911 45 - Just when I thought I had all the 1911 pistols I needed, Springfield Armory came up with something even more amazing. Here's the Ronin 1911. It's a pistol with all the mods and features I wanted for an amazing MSRP of just $849.
A feature I can't live without? forged steel. The materials of 1911 must be durable and of the highest quality. The Ronin has a forged stainless steel frame and forged carbon steel guides. The whole is complemented by a hammer-forged barrel. This makes the Ronin a great option.

The 1911 has several other features that I am so used to that they are essential features of my 1911 pistol. These features are functional and ergonomic: tactical rear sight, high visibility forward sight and beavertail grip safety. The Ronin has all three: a competition-worthy fiber optic dovetail sight, a serrated dual-dot tactical rear sight, and a well-designed “memory punch” grip safety to ensure full engagement. A light trigger adds to the charm of this great gun.

What's great about the Ronin to me is everything it offers for the price. If, like me, you're one of those people who likes to "pump up" their guns, you might have a bit of a customization budget.
Each weapon may have features that are attractive to some shooters and not to others. Grip, for example, is very personal to a 1911 sniper. The Ronin comes with a beautiful wooden handle that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also very comfortable.
But remember. I like change. Personally, I switched to the G10 grips because I found them to be a great option in the hot Arizona climate where I live. At the price of the Ronin, I'm left with some cash left over for such extras.

Citadel 1911 Review
One feature I love about the Ronin is the frame's clean, sleek front bar. This will allow you to decide what kind of texturing you want to add to your gun. You can checkerboard, dotted, or leave it as is. This gives me the freedom to choose and adjust my gun to my needs.
Another cool thing about the Ronin is its caliber selection. I'm a huge fan of the .45 ACP, but there are times when the 9mm is a good choice. Then you are in luck. Ronin is for you! Available in both 9mm and .45 ACP. Now my choice is: which one? I'm simplifying - take both! A 4.25" version of the pistol with a lightweight frame is also in the works and will also be available in .45 ACP or 9mm calibers. Pick, pick, choose!
I think the first thing to do is to get the scope right. I bought Federal Syntech ammunition and took the .45 ACP Ronin to a local training ground and fired hundreds of rounds. The gun worked great, shot well and was an impressive performer. Now all you have to do is choose a holster and you're done.
The Springfield Armory Ronin is pretty hard to beat. It seems difficult to find a gun with all these features at a price even without forged parts. Add to that the long life and durability that the Ronin offers, great features and an amazing price, and you have a gun that will last even longer!

To better understand today's 1911, I think it's helpful to first look back in time and see how we got here.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the U.S. Army was looking for a new sidearm, and the competition was fierce as to what this new sidearm might be. Soon, John Moses Browning's legendary handgun was competing with products from five manufacturers, including Savage.
After four years of field testing, two finalists (1911 and Savage Model 1907) culminated in a grueling two-day torture test in which each fired 6,000 rounds of the new .45 Automatic Colt Pistol, and the 1911 was selected as the next Model . A new secondary weapon for the US Army.
Adopted by the USMC and U.S. Navy two years later, it remained the primary sidearm of all U.S. forces in both world wars through the post-Vietnam War era of the early 1980s.

An all-steel 1911 costs a bit more than you would pay for most polymer-framed pistols fired from a striker of similar quality and performance level. This is the nature of the beast when it comes to producing all steel parts.
That said, if you're looking for a 1911 that's less than the price of a GLOCK, you have a few options, and they promise they won't explode in your hands. They're a little rougher and don't perform as well as more expensive options, but they'll get the job done.
